Ayers Rock

Sandy Way Rest Area - just outside the National Park.

Over the sand hills from the rest area off the Lasseter Hwy amongst the trees.

Ayers Rock was named in 1873 by explorer William Gosse after the then Premier of S.A. Sir Henry Ayers. Visitors are discouraged from climbing the 348 mtr high monolith, an alternative is the 10km base walk, we did both_____

Now this is just a very small section, Wow! it's BIG!

The rock climb was closed due to high winds when we arrived at 0730hrs. So did the 10k base walk. We enjoyed the walk, we trust you will to!

Aussie Wave!

Okay we are out of here, and did the drive around the rock - 'Bugger' Sue states why did we walk around?

As we were driving out the UHF radio crackled - "The Rocks OPEN!" We did a quick "U turn" and ____
